Mexican-Indian Fusion: the bold flavor combination you may have never saw coming and definitely need to try

The Mexican and Indian Fusion Restaurant in Bucktown You Should Add To Your List

Mexican and Indian cuisines are a combination I never would have thought to try, but the flavors of both cuisines came together in an incredible way at Mirra. Mirra was on The Taste Archives list to try in 2025, and I’m so happy I finally got to go. We booked our reservation about 2 months ago for a Thursday night, and after eating there, I finally understand why the restaurant is always so booked up. The bold flavors of both cuisines blended together so well and created such a unique and tasty fusion. I was truly impressed. All of the dishes were shareable style, so we got to sample a little bit of everything. The cocktails were very creative, too! Here's everything we ordered, what I really enjoyed, and what I wouldn't order again:

Menu — Mirra

Charred Cauliflower Salad: this was a favorite for the table! The chilled yogurt agave dressing on the cauliflower gave this dish a very refreshing taste, and the crunch of the hominy-madras was a good addition.

Tacos Arabe: this was my favorite dish we ordered. The spiced lamb mixed with the chipotle flavor served on the crispy cheese tortilla was an amazing combination.

Lamb Barbacoa Biryani: this was a close, close second favorite, and seemingly one of Mirra's most popular dishes. The rice comes in a shell of roti that you crack open and mix into the rice. Absolutely delicious.

Crispy Maitake Mushrooms: This dish came with small tortillas and mole on the side, and it was delicious. If you're a mushroom lover, you will definitely enjoy this dish.

Mussels Khavsa: I wasn't too crazy about this dish. I was excited to try the Gujarati inspired khavsa broth, but I thought this dish didn't have as much flavor as some of the other dishes we had. I probably wouldn't order this again if I were to go back.

Skull Island Prawn Chaat: I love prawns, and loved the bold flavors the cilantro-mint chutney added to this dish, but this was really difficult to eat and a little messy. The flavor was good, but not sure I would order this again.
