Bringing Ramen-San to Our Kitchen at Home

A comforting homemade ramen inspired by a viral recipe, with our own twists.

Bringing Ramen-San to Our Kitchen at Home

If you know me, you know I’m truly obsessed with ramen. It’s my go-to comfort food, and I’m always craving it. That craving hit hard last Sunday when I stumbled upon a recipe by Michael Duarte, the creator behind the Instagram account @foodwithbearhands. His ramen recipe, which has captivated 3.6 million viewers, immediately caught my attention too. Instead of ordering Ramen-San, we decided to give it a shot. We made it with our own modifications—and it turned out really well (and pretty spicy). Recipe below! Yields 2 servings.

Ingredients

  • 2 packs Buldak Carbonara
  • 4 tbsp mayo (we used kewpie)
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 soft boiled eggs
  • Momofuku Chili crunch (for topping)
  • Green onion (for topping)
  • Steak (optional)
  • Enoki mushrooms (optional)

Directions

  1. Boil the Buldak noodles and save 1/2 cup of the water
  2. In a separate large bowl, mix the Buldak sauce packets, the Buldak powder packets, mayo, minced garlic, and egg yolks together
  3. (Optional): Grill steak on the side and let rest
  4. (Optional): Boil enoki mushrooms
  5. Add in the 1/2 cup of ramen water into the bowl and stir
  6. Add the cooked ramen noodles, then top with chili oil (sparingly), green onion, and steak
