Miami holds a special place in my heart. I love visiting for the warm weather, but I also think the city has a bit of an underrated food scene. Here are some spots I’ve been to that I’ve really enjoyed, Uchi or Novikov being two of my favorites:
1. Novikov - Brickell
Novikov is a great dining experience with a pretty extensive menu that blends Japanese and Chinese cuisines. I thought it had a great modern ambiance, and it’s perfect for people seeking quality ingredients and flavors in the heart of the city. Whether you're in the mood for sushi or peking duck, I think Novikov does a great job delivering asian fusion.
2. Uchi - Wynwood
I thought the dishes at Uchi were fantastic and fit right in with the artistic energy of its location in Miami's creative Wynwood neighborhood. The restaurant has a unique take on modern Japanese cuisine, combining fresh ingredients with innovative techniques. Everything we ordered was plated so well and all had a creative touch to them. All of the fish tasted so fresh, too. Highlight of the meal was cooking the wagyu strips that we ordered on a hot rock at the table ourselves.
3. Gitano - Miami Beach
Gitano in Miami Beach has a tropical-inspired atmosphere with lots of greenery and vibrant décor. I think the restaurant did a great job creating a laid-back yet stylish dining experience. The restaurant serves Mexican cuisine with a focus on fresh, flavorful ingredients. I think the dishes were fairly basic, but the overall experience—with the tropical vibe and refreshing cocktails—was definitely a good one.
4. Komodo - Brickell
Komodo in Miami offers a lively, upscale dining experience with a great menu that blends Southeast Asian flavors and contemporary flair well. The ambiance is one of the best parts of the restaurant. While Komodo is an extremely basic and popular restaurant for people visiting Miami, I think it has a sleek and energetic ambiance, making it a great choice for both dining and nightlife. The restaurant also features a separate lounge upstairs for drinks and music.
